About
Texas Endurance Runs is a rugged, heat-defined ultra built around the 24-hour and 48-hour formats, where success depends on smart pacing, heat acclimation, and making the most of the cooler nighttime hours. The challenge is intentionally demanding, and that shared struggle creates a distinctive camaraderie as newcomers and experienced ultrarunners swap advice, stories, and encouragement through long hours on the course. What began as a grassroots Fat-Ass gathering has grown into a more structured event while holding onto its welcoming, communal spirit. The course is now easier to monitor, but the feel remains that of a laid-back running party, with runners camping, sharing food and supplies, and building friendships in a close-knit atmosphere. Its character is shaped as much by resilience and community as by competition, with a homespun tradition and a strong charitable heart reinforcing the event’s warm, tough, and deeply personal appeal.
