Black Beacon Mountain Races
About
The Black Beacon Mountain Races send runners south to north across the Black Mountains and Bannau Brycheiniog, offering a demanding yet approachable mountain ultra experience. The 100-mile and 50-mile routes pair substantial elevation with fast, largely non-technical trails and straightforward navigation, creating a test of endurance that is serious without being overly complicated underfoot. What sets the event apart is the scale and variety of the South Wales landscape, with the course passing waterfalls, reservoirs and some of the region’s highest peaks. A strong support setup from experienced staff and enthusiastic volunteers helps maintain a welcoming atmosphere, while the combination of big views, sustained climbing and runnable terrain gives the race the feel of a future classic on the UK mountain running calendar.
