The Peak is a mountain trail race built for runners who relish sustained climbing and hard-hitting descents. Centered on Cuyamaca Peak, one of San Diego County’s highest summits, the course sticks mostly to singletrack and serves up expansive views throughout a rugged, demanding day in the mountains. The 50K opens with a long, steep ascent to the summit, then plunges downhill before looping back into a second climb to the top. With around 10,000 feet of total elevation change, it delivers a serious test of endurance, leg strength, and downhill resilience, combining big vertical, technical trail running, and a dramatic high-country setting.
