On the first day, runners will tackle a 44 km stretch from Mareeba to Dimbulah on a flat, sealed road. The main concern here is managing traffic, especially trucks, as this is the most bustling segment of the event. Day two features a 63 km route from Dimbulah to Almaden, crossing hilly terrain with steep grades around the Lappa and Bismark Ranges. The path is mostly sealed, but unfenced sections demand caution due to grazing cattle and narrow bridges. The final day covers a 33 km mix of sealed and gravel surfaces from Almaden to Chillagoe. While the area is hilly, the grades are more moderate, and like earlier sections, the route is unfenced with cattle present. Visibility can be an issue with dust clouds, so runners are advised to be careful.
