Great Naseby Water Race

About

The Great Naseby Water Race, held in Central Otago's highest town, Naseby, offers a unique ultramarathon experience through a historic and challenging landscape. Participants loop a 10 km circuit of gravel roads and forest tracks, passing the historic Water Race canal from the 1860s gold-mining days. Races extend from 50 km to a staggering 200 miles, demanding both endurance and perseverance. Moderate elevation changes, coupled with the repetitive terrain and winter weather, create a tough yet rewarding challenge for ultrarunners from New Zealand and beyond. Solo and team options with strict cut-offs test participants' steady pacing and grit.
