This 50-mile route begins at Hatcher Pass and drops alongside the Little Susitna River as it spills onto the north side of the MatSu Valley. From there, runners travel through a changing landscape of farmland and forest, with autumn color adding to the scenery, before reaching the heart of Wasilla. The course then heads east toward the banks of the Matanuska River and finishes with a winding run through historic Palmer. The point-to-point layout creates a varied journey with long stretches of valley terrain, scenic river views, and a strong sense of place throughout southcentral Alaska.
